The bouquet is a darkly rich perfume, as scents of black currant, black fig, mulberry, Asian plum sauce and dried red rose marry others of date molasses, coffee bean, toffee, vanilla, smoke and graphite. It has a supple, palate-coating texture, yet retains plenty of zest to temper its richness, and the dominant flavors of red and black currant, fig and date achieve a satisfying harmony with rich forest-floor undercurrents, hints of black truffle, sweet dark tobacco and graphite. Altogether satisfying and food-friendly, it has enough structural tannin to serve with Prime Rib, while its texture will not overpower roast chicken.
